HEALTH AND SAFETY

Rubbercrete product does not contain substances at concentrations presenting a health hazard within the meaning of the Chemicals (hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations. As with all cement/lime-based products, Rubbercrete is irritating to the eyes and skin. Skin contact should therefore be avoided.

The following measures are advised

  1. Use suitable safety gloves and protective clothing during mixing and application.
  2. Due to the high polymer content, Rubbercrete must be kept from contact with the skin.
  3. Wear goggles to protect the eyes if splashing is likely.

Skin Contact – may cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals. Wash thoroughly with soap and water and use a proprietary skin cleaner.
Swallowed – Ingestion may cause vomiting and headache In the event of ingestion seek medical attention.
Inhaled – Adverse health effects due to inhalation are unlikely. Over exposure to the product in confined areas may irritate the respiratory system Remove from the contaminated area to a natural source of fresh air. Seek medical attention if an irritation develops.
Eye contact – May cause mild irritation. Contact lenses should be removed. Irrigate copiously with clean fresh water for at least 10 minutes holding the eyelid open. If irritation persists seek medical attention.

Do not inhale dust.
Take precautions to avoid eyes and skin.

PREPARATION

  1. Prepare substrate area where Rubbercrete is to be used depending on construction e.g. bonded, unbonded or floating construction.

MIXING

Rubbercrete Base Coat
All contents of the Rubbercrete bags must be used. The mixing container can be a high-sided mixing tub, or ordinary cement mixer to contain the product using the sequence as follows;

  1. 6 litres of water into mixing container.
  2. Carefully empty all recycled rubber into container.
  3. Open and pour in all powder content.
  4. Mix (utilising a paddle mixer when using tub) for approx 3 minutes.
  5. Mix for a minimum 0f 6 minutes when using a cement mixer.

Rubbercrete Finish Coat
Mix in accordance with chosen finish coat instructions depending on particular project. (e.g. tiled floor, vinyl etc.).

APPLICATION


Pour the fully mixed Rubbercrete onto the substrate and allow the material to seek its own level. Spread with steel trowel or spreader. Keep the trowel slightly inclined to obtain the desired thickness of cover. Utilise traditional levelling tools depending on thickness applied.

No special curing is required.
