- Composition / Information on Ingredients
Product is a controlled blend of polymerised Portland cement, rubber crumb and hydrated lime.
Rubbercrete does not contain substances at concentrations presenting a health hazard within the meaning of the Chemicals (hazard Information and Packaging for Supply) Regulations(CHIP).
- Hazards Identification
This product is not classified as dangerous for supply according to the CHIP Regulations.
Inhalation of dust over a long period of time could constitute a heath hazard.
Irritating to eyes and skin.
Adverse health effects are not expected if the product is handled in accordance with this material safety data sheet.
- First Aid Measures
Skin Contact – may cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals.
Wash thoroughly with soap and water and use a proprietary skin cleaner.
Swallowed – Ingestion may cause vomiting and headache
In the event of ingestion seek medical attention.
Inhaled – Adverse health effects due to inhalation are unlikely. Over exposure to the product in confined areas may irritate the respiratory system.
Remove from the contaminated area to a natural source of fresh air. Seek medical attention if an irritation develops.
Eye contact – May cause mild irritation.
Contact lenses should be removed. Irrigate copiously with clean fresh water for at least 10 minutes holding the eyelid open. If irritation persists seek medical attention.
- Fire Fighting Measures
Extinguishing Media – Alcohol resistant foam, Co2, Powder, Water Spay/mist.
Run Off – Run off substances for extinguishing the rubber crumb should not be allowed into drains, sewers or water courses.
Fire and Explosion Hazards – Fire will produce dense black smoke containing hazardous products of combustion. Decomposition of the product may result in the generation of toxic oxides of carbon and nitrogen.
Protective Measures – Fire fighters should wear self contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.
- Accidental Release Measures
Avoid dry sweeping which will create dust.
Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate area.
Use vacuum or utilise water spray to dampen down.
Wearing appropriate PPE, sweep up, place in bag and hold for waste disposal.
Dispose of in accordance with EA Regulations.
- Handling and Storage
Storage – Store in unopened bags off the ground, in a dry, well ventilated area and away from direct sunlight or sources of heat or ignition. Store away from oxidizing agents. Observe stock rotation procedure.
Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in areas of storage.
- Exposure Controls / Personal Protection
Skin Contact – Wear suitable gloves and overalls when handling to avoid skin contact.
Inhalable dust – 10mg/m3 – Occupational Limits 8hrs TWA
Respirable dust – 5mg/m3 – Occupational limits 8hrs TWA
Dust mask should be worn when mixing.
Eye – Where risk of splashing occurs, wear goggles.
General – Cotton overalls are adequate for general protection.
- Physical and Chemical Properties
Appearance – Grey finish with black rubber crumb speckles.
Flammability – Prior to mixing and application the rubber crumb is combustible. Do not blend this product into or close to ignition sources.
Fire Resistance – Class 3 prior to top coat. Class 0 with top coat applied.
Coverage – 160 – 180m2 to 1 tonne of material at a nominal 20mm thickness
- Stability and Reactivity
Stability – Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions.
Hazardous Decomposition – During storage in a fire, hazardous decomposition products such as smoke, carbon dioxide and oxides of nitrogen may be produced.
Avoid water and damp conditions.
- Toxicological
Skin – Frequent or prolonged contact may cause irritation or dermatitis.
Eyes – May cause irritation, redness and watering. Wet product is alkaline.
Ingestion – Small quantities ingested unlikely to cause more than temporary discomfort.
Inhalation – Respirable dust from any fine powder could, if inhaled over a prolonged period of time, constitute a health hazard.
- Ecological Information
This product is non degrading. Do not allow into drains, sewers or water courses.
- Disposal Considerations
Dispose of in accordance with local authority regulations. Use only licensed waste disposal contractors.

Not regulated.
- Regulatory Information
S22 – Do not breathe dust.
S24128 – Avoid contact with eyes/skin.
S28 – In case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with copious amounts of water and seek medical attention.
S36 – Wear suitable protective clothing/ gloves, overalls and goggles.
